Another September, another week of fashionistas teetering around Manhattan in impossibly high heels — yes, kids, it’s New York Fashion Week. If you listen closely, you just might hear the sound of Anna Wintour rolling her eyes in the front row of some designer she’s decided to ruin. To keep you in touch and up-to-date on the who, what, where, why and Wang of NYFW, we invited social media maven Gregory Littley to highlight the people, artists, content creators, models, and stylists that you must follow. And Nick Jonas.

I can hear you all asking “What does Nick Jonas have to do with Fashion Week?” Answer? Nick and his two JoBros are practically front row for all major Lincoln Center shows, that’s why he made our list. In between posting real time Instagrams of Richard Chai’s latest Spring 2014 collection, he shares a shirtless, ridiculously buff pic with his 836,000 followers. :: Full story here Unfiltered

Schiaparelli & Prada at ‘The Met’

Celebrities Honor Two Great Designers at Event

Schiaparelli and Prada, many guests at this year’s ultimate fashion gala on Monday night observed some surprising similarities between two women whose work is separated by half a century. Walking through the displays of ugly-chic dresses and slightly surreal designs in a new Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibition that compares the designers Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada.  “I loved the play of the two of them together,” said Tom Ford, arriving at the Costume Institute gala with the model Chanel Iman, who wore a dress made of pheasant feathers molded to her body. “It was amazing how hard it was to differentiate some of the pieces.”  Best not mention that to Mrs. Prada, one of the most influential female designers in recent history, who initially rebuffed the museum’s plans to mount an exhibition that compared her to Schiaparelli, who died in 1973.
Mrs. Prada said in many interviews about the show that she had never been inspired by the work of her predecessor. “Well,” Mr. Ford said, “Coco Chanel said that creativity is the art of concealing your sources.”©NYtimes story by Continue reading

Party Show Fashion Week with Illustrator Nicolas Tavitian

Fashion Week Paris WORLD EXCLUSIVE for Style Voyeur, a conversation with Parisian Illustrator, Nicolas Tavitian – as he takes us inside a Paris Fashion Week show!
Above & Below: Lanvin Fall/Winter 2012 show
At Paris Fashion Week we asked Nicolas, you were on Style Voyeur back in 2010 (see here), how did you get to know Style Voyeur? I don’t remember anymore how I got to know Style Voyeur. I can’t help thinking it is my curiosity which drove me to your blog. But I can still remember what I thought about your pictures and your words the first time I glanced at them, which is more important. I was intrigued because I found that the people you photographed had a very relaxed attitude, looking satisfied and happy to be there, happy to show at fashion week, what they did or their outfits. It was like pictures taken during a party, not during what could be considered in Paris as a working moment. It was cooler. It told me something about Perth but also something about the Paris show.
This is a major fashion week scoop for me, one that I am very blessed to share with my readers, how is it that you're able to give StyleVoyeur such an EXCLUSIVE? I Read more…

Stella McCartney shows Fall 2012 in New York City

At an intimate presentation, cocktail party followed by her new store opening, Stella McCartney began 2012 as she means to go on.

Stella McCartney launches Pre-Fall 2012 and opens new Soho storeStella McCartney’s in between seasons presentations are always something to look forward to. Her autumn 2012 collection was held in New York, at One If By Land, Two If By Sea, a restaurant often voted the most romantic in the city. Models wandered around the candlelit cocktail party drinking champagne and playing pool and backgammon. The roaring fires, huge bouquets of flowers, photography books and a jazz band playing in the corner, meant McCartney’s presentation felt more like a convivial house party, not a stress inducing rushed runway show. There were vegan hors d’oeuvres. McCartney’s autumn accessories collection – also vegan – were on display in a room overlooking a winter garden. – - read more

Fashion Comes Out for Gay Marriage

Anna Wintour & Jeff Koons
Anna Wintour & Jeff Koons
Story by Heather Corcoran
We’re of the mind that whether it’s two Sapphic supermodels or a 69-year-old fashion icon and his 21-year-old underwear-model boytoy, any flavor of love makes the world a more beautiful place. And while, since the summer, New Yorkers have been able to wed whoever they damn well please, the state is one of only six to recognize same-sex marriage. But last night, at the Calvin Klein flagship in Manhattan, a group of New York heavy-hitters including Anna Wintour, Robert DeNiro, Neil Patrick Harris, and Francisco Costa gathered to launch Americans for Marriage Equality, an campaign to promote equal marriage rights nationwide. Spearheaded by the Human Rights Campaign, the movement is an expansion of New Yorkers for Marriage Equality, which successfully rallied support for same-sex marriage in the Empire State.
In addition to the well-heeled crowd—i.e. Hamish Bowles, Sally Singer and even professional gala-goer Courtney Love—guests at the launch got to check out a specially commissioned sculpture by Nathaniel Rackowe. In case your invite got lost in the mail, you can check out the installation through January 3, and don’t forget to throw in your support for the cause here.

Donatella Versace into snakeskin!

One of the coolest (and coldest blooded) trends to have slipped off the Autumn Winter runways was coloured snakeskin. Now queen of fashion, Donatella Versace, has gone for a controversial matchy-matchy accessories look by pairing her jacket to her holdall on a recent flight. To help water-proof our theory, here’s Anna Wintour in a bottle green snakeskin mac, making her way to the Burberry show at London Fashion Week. It’s all the rage this autumn. Chloe provided everything a girl could wish for in snakeskin – from floaty, snakeskin printed chiffon maxidresses to slinky rock n roll snakeskin blouses. Then, chez Gucci, snakeskin came in rich jewel colours, mainly in the form of outerwear like belted trenches and bikers. Then there was the super-feminine collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli at Valentino which was complemented by coloured python handbags and snakey knee-length boots. An Interview with 'Karl Lagerfeld'

'I'm Not a Fortune-Teller': A Q&A with Karl Lagerfeld

What is the concept behind the Métiers d'Art collection?
In fact there are two concepts. It's a real collection, on the other side of the year. Like Cruise is shown in spring, this collection is shown later in the year. We needed a collection to balance Cruise in terms of dates in the shops. The second concept is the simple idea that Chanel has all these marvelous technicians with the highest level of creativity and quality in their world. It was a perfect idea to use that as a base for a new collection.
Did you have a certain woman in mind?
I have my permanent muses and my muses of the moment. No names.
In a world of increasing homogeneity—and not just in fashion—is the Métiers d'Art collection designed to give more women the opportunity to be distinctive in their dress?
