©ourtesy of JingDaily By
yiqing-yin-015This year’s Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week for Fall/Winter 2013-2014 saw a range of designers from a diverse range of backgrounds presenting their creations on the runway. Among them were China-born emerging designers Laurence Xu and Yiqing Yin, both of whom utilize traditional Chinese elements in their couture lines to create their own distinct aesthetics. Making his mark on the French fashion world, Xu held his first ever haute couture fashion show at Pavillon Cambon. Themed Xiuqiu, which literally means “embroidered ball” in Chinese, the show seamlessly integrated Chinese style and Western elements. As Women’s Wear Daily reported, Xu paraded highly embellished,

Elie Saab in Paris: all winners

The Oscars are about to provide yet another dazzling showcase for the Lebanese designer Elie Saab, Julia Robson meets the couturier with Hollywood at his door.

Story BY Julia Robson | telegraph.co.uk

Two words are synonymous with red-carpet fashion these days: Elie Saab. Rarely a week goes by without a beautiful celebrity wearing an exquisite, twinkling creation by the 47-year-old Lebanese designer at an awards ceremony or starry premiere. Remember the curvaceous, crimson-hued, cap-sleeved gown Kate Winslet wore to collect her Emmy last September? It was an Elie Saab (a copy now graces the waxwork Winslet at Madame Tussauds). And the emerald-sequined ‘mermaid’ gowns Gwyneth Paltrow and Zoe Saldana wore on the same night in November to functions on either side of the Atlantic? Elie Saab.In the past year the roll-call of leading ladies who have chosen Saab’s fluttering chiffon or billowing satin to wear on the red carpet has trebled.

New York Fashion Week Fall 2012: Kate Spade

Katespadecollage
Designer Deborah Lloyd has really injected new energy and fun into the Kate Spade brand. For fall, she was inspired by French gamines hangin’ in the courtyard at the Palais Royale in Paris. That translated into a bright color story with lots of graphic touches, including the print on a full skirt spelling out “toutes les filles sont folles” (all the girls are mad), designed by blogger, fashion illustrator and photographer Garance Dore.

Dotnails One of the key looks in the collection was a pair of blazing orange pants cropped over polka dot heels, and worn with an aqua-colored cardigan. The colorful cropped pants-over-heels look is one that all the fashion girls are already wearing , and apparently, it’s going to have legs! There were lots of cute extras, too — jeweled Peter Pan collars, a puff of a marabou feather purse and sparkling fishnet tights. And the polka dot manicures were genius.
