Philip Treacy Hats Top Off Paris Couture Week

Philip Treacy is known as one of the most extraordinary designers of luxury hats for his eccentric style. Treacy who is Best known for his ornate hats that have topped the famous heads of Sarah Jessica Parker, Lady Gaga, and Princess Beatrice of York at 2011’s Royal Wedding (along with 39 other attendees) the latest pieces for Philip Treacy to add to his repertoire were components of Didit Hediprasetyo’s Fall 2012 Couture  Treacy show.

The Philip Treacy vibrancy of the orchid in the purple floral hat is eye-catching, but also complements the plum color of Hediprasetyo’s dress. At a closer glance, you can see how much detail went into making this hat, including the small jewels that are dusted onto the delicate petals of the orchid. Floral was a prominent theme in the Treacy show, but other Treacy designs reflected his signature eccentric work. The black contoured ribbon hat reminds me of the shape and texture of Princess Beatrice of York’s hat at the Royal Wedding last spring. Lady Gaga’s Workshop Opens 11:59 tonight at Barney’s ... see You there!

 

Admit it, you want your picture taken in Gaga’s mouth. Get one of those foam fingers people take to sports games and you could really get creative with it.

Eff you, Black Friday! And eff you, too, Brown Thursday! Today is Rainbow Tuesday! That’s the name that the opening of Gaga’s Workshop at Barneys, occurring at 11:59 this evening, should rightly if arbitrarily lend to the day. Gaga is supposed to be there to officiate things, so hopefully she can be on time since the marketing so delicately hinges on the 11:59 time stamp. Apparently in addition to a “click-to-hatch version of Lady Gaga in her famous Hussein Chalayan egg from the Grammy Awards,” the Gaga-themed shop-in-shop, curated by her stylist Nicola Formichetti along with Barneys creative director Dennis Freedman, contains food. – – courtesy of NYmag - By Amy Odell

MUGLER goes "Gaga"

Nicola Formichetti brought the Thierry Mugler women's collection roaring back to the runway Wednesday night, with Lady Gaga in long blond ponytails and giant platforms modeling for her stylist/collaborator, and the show streaming live on Facebook. Formachetti's designs -- tailored jackets and dresses with extreme "Metropolis" shoulders, latex pants and catsuits -- were not-too-distant cousins of Mugler's fierce-feminine looks from the '80s and '90s. But, gorgeous as the models were (including Coco Rocha and Jessica Stam in tribal makeup), they weren't the supermodels of yore. So when Formichetti sent them "vogue-ing" down the runway, '80s-style, not only did they occasionally look pained, a few of them actually stumbled.
