Read Eric Wilson’s story in NY Times about

Kanye West Fashion Story

Every fashion week season, we avidly watch New York Times fashion writer Eric Wilson‘s show coverage—which, over four weeks, subtly shifts in tone from cheerful optimism at New York fashion week to hilarious deadpan tell-it-like-it-is-ism by the end of the Paris show schedule. In today’s Style section, Wilson takes on Kanye West‘s debut womenswear collection. With relish. Here are some of our favorite parts of Wilson’s story.
On Kanye West’s problems:
…[West] said he had taken out loans to hire the best models, designers and location.“I gave you everything that I had,” he said, one of his few printable remarks.
If that is true, Mr. West faces bigger obstacles in life than credit-card debt. – – follow this Story

This year’s Paris Fashion Week included special cameos by supermodels like Kate Moss, who closed what might be Marc Jacobs’s final collection at Louis Vuitton, and Gisele Bündchen‘s close for Givenchy. Meanwhile, Natalia Vodianova had the honors of opening for the latter show, and also bookmarked Stella McCartney’s runway. Yet the dominance of Karlie Kloss cannot be denied. The 19-year-old American, who’s getting more mature bookings by the day, landed the opening slots at Jean Paul Gaultier and John Galliano as well as the closing slots at Christian Dior, Lanvin, Elie Saab, Gareth Pugh, and Roland Mouret. See all of Karlie’s looks in the slideshow.

From English teacher to fashion designer, meet Fedor Vozianov

“Unwilling to pass as a gay, Vozianov kept his designer’s skills to himself. He went public when his work got successful abroad.”
As fashion houses worldwide spawn next season’s collections, Ukrainian designers are preparing to catwalk their creations during Ukraine Fashion Week, starting Oct. 13, 2011. There is one established designer, however, who won’t grace the stage in Mystetsky Arsenal this year. A former linguist, designer Fedor Vozianov, is cool enough to miss iVozianov is busy conquering Italy and France, where he presented his autumn-winter 2012 collection last month. A gracious white jacket with folded shawl lapels flowing all the way down to the knees looks almost like a sewing pattern thrown over the model’s shoulders. — read more about Fedor

‘Miu Miu’ at Paris Fashion Week

Fun motifs paired with well defined structural touches have made the spring 2012 Miu Miu collection memorable at this edition of the Fashion Week. Colorful yet fairly conservative, the collection brings several interesting touches that separate it from the style concepts presented at Prada. After the delightful women and engines themed collection presented by Prada at the Milan Fashion Week, fashion enthusiasts have had the chance to see the Miu Miu spring 2012 collection which maintains many of the same structural touches we have previously seen, yet comes with a whole new approach in terms of prints and color. Different, without being any less exciting, the line focuses on femininity with carefully placed accents that immediately attract attention. – – view more Highlights from Prada’s Miu Miu
