It’s
Presidents Day in the U.S., but fortunately we have London to satisfy
our taste for fashion news. Starting at the top, Samantha Cameron, wife
of British Prime Minister David Cameron, sat on the front row of
Christopher Kane’s runway show Monday during London Fashion Week. She is
her husband’s “ambassador” to the British Fashion Council. [Telegraph]
Mulberry adopted singer Lana Del Rey for its showing, creating a bag
named after her, sitting her front row at the runway and enticing her to
sing at the brand’s party Sunday night. [The Cut]
Plenty of other celebrities and socialites have been taking in the
shows as well, including Olivia Palermo, Alexa Chung, Pixie Geldof and
singers Alexandra Burke and Kate Nash. [Telegraph]
So far, the designers in London seem to be showing more colorful
clothes for fall than did the designers at New York Fashion Week. [The Cut]
Top modeling agencies in Britain are prohibiting their models from
using tanning beds, due to the risk factors for skin cancer — and
wrinkles too. [Fashionista] — by Susan Denley

Rachel Zoe Holiday Tips
The stylist-turned-reality-show-star visited New York this week on behalf of Piperlime, the footwear and apparel e-commerce site for which she is a celebrity guest editor. We took her appearance as a chance to pose some of our holiday style questions—and asked her BFF/makeup-and-hair-guru Joey Maalouf for a winter beauty tip while we were at it (hint: focus on the lips). Edited excerpts:
WSJ: What is one chic piece that women should invest in this season?
RZ: There are too many things to name, but I think a great faux fur is a great thing to buy. It doesn’t go out of style, it’s so luxurious, you can throw it over jeans and a T-shirt but you can also wear it with a cocktail dress, what’s so great about it.
WSJ: Do you have any tips on giving clothing as a holiday gift?
RZ: The people that you’re giving clothing to, you should know them well. You should give them a great sweater or a little jacket is great, because the fit isn’t as tricky. But it’s hard to give someone a pair of jeans. That’s tricky. With shoes, I’ve given shoes a lot, but you have to know that person’s size. It has to be, like, your best friend. – - read more Tips

Costume Designer and Stylist Rosemary Ponzo
Carlos J. Segura | the Author
During 2010′s Fashion Week, Cinespect had the pleasure of sitting down with one of its first interviewees, Rosemary Ponzo, an industry veteran who’s worked with the likes of Coppola, Prince and beyond since her entry into the world of fashion design and styling. This time around, appropriately during Fashion Week once again, we sit down with Ms. Ponzo to talk about her latest ventures, her take on what it takes to be a successful designer/stylist for anyone looking to break into the business and, of course, fashion.
Ok, so tell us what you’ve been up to since our last interview; what you’ve got in the works, etc.?
My most recent projects have been working with pharmaceutical companies, doing commercials for them. Although they’re not glamorous they have teeth because they pay a lot (laughs). I have also been working with a company that is doing a movie called “Harley Quinn,” and it’s an independent film. It’s a very exciting movie because the character of Harley Quinn transforms herself from a psychologist into someone that is quite the diva, almost like Catwoman. And the make-up I’ve done should be very exciting, almost “Black Swan” like. I worked for Jeff Gordon, grooming him for his charity, which is on television right now, and also for events that he attends with his wife. I also worked on a rap video for Jim Jones; the video is called “Money Bags.” And he is all real Louis Vuitton (laughs). And then I did a Blackberry apps commercial. I love the theater but movies and commercials are fast money. I also did a Sharp Television spot in Japan based on the work of artists like Duras, Degas, Van Gogh, and I had to bring their paintings to life. And it was done in 3D.
