Filmmaker Competition for London Fashion Week

BREAKING: Fash/On Film Mentoring SchemeFilmmaker search, launched by the British Fashion Council is looking for their first nationwide emerging filmmaker talent, as part of their Fash/On Film initiative sponsored by River Island, inviting up-and-coming directors to submit film ideas in response to a brief set by leading British designer Emilio de la Morena in conjunction with British Fashion Council Fash/On Film. The winning filmmaker fashion film will showcase Emilio’s pre-spring 2013 collection. One filmmaker will be selected to receive professional support and mentoring through the production process, offering a unique opportunity to gain insight into and experience of the fashion film industry. This film will be shown at London Fashion Week September 2012, creating a prestigious launch pad into the fashion film industry and the British Fashion Council.
The deadline for Filmmaker applications is Friday 6th July 2012.

Marc Jacobs set to make Film debut

The New York Fashion Week darling is to star in Disconnect, an indie drama that, in the words of IMDB, is 'centred on a group of people searching for human connections in today's wired world.'  Fashionista.com reports that the designer's latest professional incarnation has just been added to the film site, though there is no official word, as yet, on the character he will play. ANN ROTH, A 'Costume Designer', Legend.

Still going strong in a career spanning almost six decades, the costume designer Ann Roth, 79, has more than 190 film and theater credits, including “Midnight Cowboy,” “The Day of the Locust” and “The English Patient,” for which she won an Oscar. Ms. Roth is working on the film version of “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close,” starring Tom Hanks, and is nominated for a Tony Award for best costume design of a musical for “The Book of Mormon.” The ceremony is June 12.

Ann Roth entered the theatrical world as a scenic painter for the Pittsburgh Opera before being hired as assistant to a Broadway costumer. By the mid-'50s, Roth was one of the leading stage costume designers, and in 1964 she broadened her activities to films. Ann Roth's motion picture credits include productions “The World of Henry Orient,” “Up the Down Staircase,” “Midnight Cowboy,” and “Klute.” Her filmography also includes films like “Murder By Death,” “California Suite,” “Sweet Dreams,” and “Postcards From the Edge.” Her work was showcased through the 90s in films that include: “The Bonfire of the Vanities,” “School Ties,” “The Birdcage,” “The English Patient” and “The Talented Mr. Ripley.” Over the past decade she has continued to work with the industry’s finest and her costuming has appeared in films like: “Signs,” “The Hours,” “Cold Mountain,” “The Stepford Wives,” “The Village,” “Closer,” “The Good Shepard,” “Mamma Mia!,” “Doubt,” “The Reader” and “Julie & Julia.”
