London Yacht Rock! PPQ.

Nautical chic: Riviera stripes ran like a seam through the collection
Nautical fashion chic: Riviera stripes ran like a seam through the London collection.

I wish I could say it was me who coined the phrase ‘yacht rock’ to describe PPQ’s triumphant, buzzy, colourful fashion show tonight. And so would the label’s designers – Amy Molyneaux and Percy Parker  – who say this year that they are ‘very into making up words.’ But it was neither of us. That honour must go to Shingai Shoniwa, the feisty, elegant, stylish singer of Noisettes fame, who used the term to describe the heady blend of smart nautical stripes and psychedelic fashion prints, the floaty chiffon in electric green and scarlet, and the bright paisley flashes that ran through tonight’s show! London catwalk Day 2 celebrates Art Deco Modernism

JOHN ROCHA (Featured)

Voluminous hooped skirts, ruffles and layers of sheer organza dominated the catwalk at Ireland-based John Rocha show, which resembled a beautiful English garden of sculpted flowers.
A red John Rocha strapless dress with an exaggerated tulip shape opened the show, its large organza ruffles imitating the frail petals of a flower. The hooped, textured skirt then appeared layered over trousers and under sheer organza jackets. It was also repeated to great effect in a host of pastel colors: Pale lavender, mint, lemon, before appearing in gun metal, champagne, black and white. Models all wore large matching hats made of folds of organza that sat like tinted clouds on their heads, a John Rocha look here at London Fashion Week.... (Reuters) – Designers turned to nature for inspiration on the opening day of London Fashion Week on Friday, showcasing a collection of sheer silk dresses, delicate embroidery and elegant show pieces all featuring a floral-inspired theme. Britain’s capital took over the baton from New York, which wrapped up its week with sparkly dresses and bold geometric prints, with a pared-down color palette of fresh pastels and faded dip-dyes. London Fashion Week Designers Antoni & Alison opened the day with a series of quirky silk printed dresses, followed by Fyodor Golan, whose show was in..... Read more about the Designers

PROENZA SCHOULER
The real-people-in-the-pool print on Proenza Schouler’s catwalk Wednesday night probably took some fashion insiders — who don’t expect that much newness during these previews — by surprise. The collection by Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough started off by advancing some trends seen for spring, including leather, patchwork, some perforated and mesh textures. The leather was a little shinier, the patchwork a little more random and the textures a little more exaggerated, but, still, they fell in line. The Proenza Schouler duo also offered skirt suits galore, but they weren’t trim and tailored; jackets were collarless and covered in snakeskin, and the skirts were slung low on the hips. But the digital-print satin dresses decorated with neon nailheads on the tops and grommets on the bottom that served as the finale were only as Proenza Schouler can do, and showed why they are considered one of New York’s bellwethers for fashion’s future. The Proenza Schouler styles were a little out there, but it’s where so many others will be..... Read more.

Spring Collection 2013 at New York Fashion Week

NEW YORK – The story of New York Fashion Week has been told in mostly black and white — making it that much harder to ignore all the unusual prints on the runway, even if they, too, were color-free. Marc Jacobs put out oversized black-and-white and red stripes on Monday a day after stripe-happy Tommy Hilfiger, whose red stripes were inspired by rope. Carolina Herrera showed an abstract geometric print on Monday, while Elie Tahari took his prints from Palm Beach, mixing palm leaves, leopard skin and tropical flowers. in earlier previews, Thakoon Panichgul had playful birds, Suno had a retro cell phone print and Jason Wu had prints reminiscent of an X-Ray. At Rebecca Taylor the print was Hawaiian, with fish scales at Monique Lhuillier and “space clouds” at Nicole Miller. “Prints are personality, they have emotion, they tell a story,” said Stacey Bendet, designer of Alice and Olivia — herself wearing a leopard-print dress on Monday to present a collection that included a variety of florals — from digital prints to painterly and candy-colored. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week continues through Thursday before the fashion crowd heads to London, Milan and Paris.

MARC JACOBS
Let’s switch gears: For the past five days, the chatter at New York Fashion Week has been about softening the edges, but Marc Jacobs changed the conversation — as he often does — after going graphic.
Black-and-white stripes followed by red stripes, tan stripes and more black-and-white stripes came rapid fire down the runway.

Coco CHANEL Best Quotes

Endlessly Quotable Chanel

Coco Chanel once said, “The most courageous act is still to think for yourself,” adding, after a beat, “Aloud.” The legendary fashion designer did exactly that for most of her life, which meant that she became not only one of the world’s strongest forces in fashion, but also one of its most quoted citizens. In honor of CHANEL Aug. 19 birthday, here’s a look back at our favorite of Coco’s many declarations.

History About designer CHANEL from Wikipedia: Gabrielle “Coco” Bonheur Chanel (19 August 1883 – 10 January 1971) was a French fashion designer and founder of the Chanel brand. She was the only fashion designer to be named on Time 100: The Most Important People of the Century. Along with Paul Poiret, Chanel is credited with liberating women from the constraints of the corseted silhouette and popularizing the acceptance of a sportive, casual chic as the feminine standard in the post-World War I era. A prolific fashion creator, Chanel’s influence Continue reading

Ichiro Suzuki, Graduate – This British fashion collection has a fashion designer with a genius in mind. With graphic prints and beautiful 3-D elements, Ichiro Suzuki created something truly bold and innovative. From pixels and fur to 3-D cubes on blazers, whilst eccentric there is an intelligent design that is admirable. You can be bold and still retain a sense of conservatism Suzuki emphasized. British fashion definitely rocks with the help of Ichiro Suzuki.
